Getting Pregnant and Pregnancy
It can be difficult when thinking of getting pregnant...maybe you feel anxious... maybe it feels as though you have found stability in mental health, are ready for a next step, but aren't sure if becoming a parent will be too difficult.
How will my current mental health be affected? What options do I have? What information is available about taking certain medication(s) during pregnancy? Will it hurt the baby? Will I be a good/bad parent if I do or don't manage my mental health? What about when breastfeeding? Will I experience postpartum depression?
We will talk through the questions and concerns you have together. There are no questions you may have that aren't valid. We will explore options for accessing helpful information directly from appropriate medical and specialized mental health professionals.
Birth Trauma, Still Birth, and Infant Loss
It can be painful, exhausting, confusing, and disorienting when experiencing fertility challenges, miscarriages, still births, complications in child birth such as prematurity or other infant illness resulting in a disrupted birth plan, unplanned C-Section, or a stay in the NICU.
We can talk through the difficult, emotional experiences while drawing from various therapeutic models individualized specifically to you and your situation. This may include EMDR Therapy to desensitize and reprocess distressful events and facilitate adaptive thinking.
